What is postcolonial theory and why is it "eaten"?

Altynai Kambekova - MA in Nationalism Studies, Central European University.

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the question arose of how the independent countries of Central Asia were treated. Is it possible to apply the concept of postcolonialism to this space, if so, who was the colonialist, these and other problems were on the agenda.

The topic of postcolonial theory and the decolonial movement is one of the most relevant today in such areas as academia, art, literature, activism, etc.

In this lecture, we tried to understand what the theory of postcolonialism is, why we need it, and whether we need it at all.

We will learn about the origins of postcolonial theory and try to understand whether this theory can be applied to the experience of Central Asia and, if so, why it is needed.
